Antoninus Pius (138-161), Medallion, Thrace: Pautalia, AD 138-140; AE (g 64,38; mm 40; h 7); AVT KAI T ΛI - AΔPI ANTΩNINOC, draped bust r., Rv. HΓEN - ΠON - ΠEI - OVOΠEI - CKOV, Heracles standing three-quarter l., holding torch in r. hand and club in l., lion's skin draped over l. arm; column with statue of standing figure holding staff in background, two small Erotes at Heracles feet; in ex. [Π]AVTAΛIΩNTΩN. Varbanov 4388 (this coin); M. Thompson, ANSMN 22, A Greek Imperial Medallion, pl. 5, 1 (these dies).
Extremely rare, only the third specimen known. Dark patina, old scratch and minor metal flaw on reverse, two old holes drilled 180° from each other in edge. Very fine.
